Hawkins and Wood Named SAAC Representatives

Hawkins one of five student-athletes on the executive board
DALLAS – UNT standout student-athletes Saylor Hawkins (women's swimming and diving) and Kevin Wood (football) have been named as UNT's representatives of on the American Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the AAC announced Wednesday. Additionally, Hawkins was one of five student-athletes in the league to earn a spot on the Executive Board.

Hawkins, a senior from Plymouth, MN, was named the Coordinator of Community Engagement for the final year of her collegiate career. Hawkins is an accomplished diver having qualified for NCAA Zones four times in her career. Also a standout in the classroom, Hawkins has landed on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times in her career.

Wood, meanwhile, is a senior linebacker out of Converse, Texas, also in his final year with the Mean Green. Wood has appeared in 42 games in his career with 172 tackles in four seasons. Earlier this season, Wood was named one of the members of the UNT football leadership council.

Both Hawkins and Wood will also serve as key members of SAAC for UNT athletics throughout the 2023-24 academic year.

The American Student-Athlete Advisory Committee serves as the voice of student-athletes who represent the conference's 15 member institutions. The mission of the conference SAAC is to improve communication for all student-athletes at each member school and enhance communication between the institutions. SAAC takes an active role in understanding and providing feedback regarding NCAA and American Athletic Conference legislation and promotes student-athlete well-being, academic achievement, personal development and community service.
