Wolfe leads Mean Green with 113th-place finish
DENTON, Texas – Landin Wolfe led UNT cross country with an 8K time of 27:51.7 as the Mean Green had a group of four freshmen competing at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.Â
Â
"I'm happy with today, coming out of the first 8K for any of these guys," UNT cross country coach Erik Stevens said. "It's a really challenging course. It's the best cross country course in the country, and it's brutal. It's not easy. I thought they handled the race itself pretty well. I saw some good things out of our top finisher today (Wolfe) that we can really develop moving forward and hopefully get him into the right spot. Overall, it was a pretty solid performance."
Â
Wolfe placed 113th with his time of 27:51.7, followed by Aiden Kirkpatrick in 154th (28:46.5), Buddy Burke in 169th (29:13.9), and Adrian Gray in 183rd (29:49.7).
Â
Next up for UNT is the Chile Pepper Festival on Friday (Sept. 29) in Fayetteville, Ark.
Â
"I'm looking forward to the Chile Pepper," Stevens said. "We're looking to get those top performers out there again and really put together something moving towards the conference and regional meet."
