DENTON, Texas – UNT track & field will host its second meet of the outdoor season Saturday with the Mean Green Invitational taking place at the Soccer and Track & Field Stadium.
Eleven North Texas seniors and a student athletic trainer will be recognized Saturday evening for their efforts and time given to the Mean Green program. Jaelyn Tucker, Kate Hilty, Shannon Cook, Rachel Jackman and Macy Burnham will all be in action for the final time at home on the women's side. Jordan Coates-McBride, Justin Walden, Jared Johnson, and Samir Williams will be active for the men's team, while Luke Canon and Tyrell Johnson will join them for the senior day ceremony.
It will be a special day for Hilty, who will make her first appearance for North Texas this season after missing the cross country and indoor seasons due to injury.
The Mean Green are coming off the Texas Relays where Makayla Roy, KeAyla Dove and the men's 4x400-meter relay team placed in the top three of their events.
Dove and Roy will both be competing in shot put Saturday. It will be Dove's first time throwing at home since the 2023 Conference USA Championships last May when she set the school record for shot put and a collegiate debut in the event for Roy.
North Texas had eight winners in the first home meet of the season before the Bill Schmidt Classic was cut short due to inclement weather on the second day of the event. Allison Stigarll and Jake Parchman will look to repeat as champions in the hammer throw, while Nakiya Marshall leads a group of 100-meter hurdlers who took five of the top-six placements in the event.
The Mean Green Invitational will have athletes from 21 collegiate teams competing in the meet. Saturday's action will begin at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw and the 5,000 meters on the track. Events will continue to be held throughout the day with field events scheduled to conclude following the women's pole vault at 2 p.m. and the meet wrapping up after 5 p.m. with the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays. The senior day ceremony will be held prior to the final two events of the day at 4:30 p.m.
