Mean Green Head to Lubbock for Red Raider Invite

DENTON, Texas – UNT track and field will travel to Lubbock to continue its indoor season Friday at the Red Raider Invite hosted at Texas Tech's Sports Performance Center.
The Mean Green will send over 50 athletes to compete at the meet against a solid field of teams, including Kansas State, Oklahoma, USC, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech and others. The first field event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with action on the track starting shortly after at 11 a.m. and concluding with the 4x400-meter relays at approximately 4 p.m. CT.

"We're excited to go to Texas Tech and face off against great competition," head coach Doug Marshall said. "There are going to be a lot of elite athletes competing this weekend, including the ones on our team. I'm really excited to see how our kids bounce back after the performances last week and how we continue to prepare and get better."
LAST TIME OUT
North Texas had two champions in its first weekend of competition at the Arkansas Invitational. Jaylen Washington won the men's 60 meters by tying a school record with a time of 6.67 in the prelims and the finals race. Jake Parchman led the Mean Green in the field events, setting a school record and claiming first place in the weight throw with a mark of 20.44 meters.
FRESH FACES IN GREEN
Twelve true freshmen made their collegiate debuts for North Texas last week at the Arkansas Invitational, while four earned top-five finishes. The Mean Green freshmen who finished top five were: Nykaela Mays (W-HJ), Lyric Cheeks (W-TJ), Trezeguet Taylor (W-60m) and Ava Roberts (W-SP).
