Drew Svoboda Named Interim Head Coach for New Mexico Bowl

Associate Head Coach to fill in for Eric Morris who will move into his role as head coach at Oklahoma State full time
DENTON – Statement from UNT Vice President and Director of Athletics Jared Mosely:
"After several thoughtful conversations with Coach Eric Morris over the past week, we mutually agreed that with his impending transition to Oklahoma State, the best path forward for both programs is for Eric to turn his full attention to his new role in Stillwater.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Eric, his wife Maggie, and their family for three extraordinary years at UNT. Under Coach Morris' leadership, Mean Green Football delivered back-to-back bowl seasons, an American Conference championship game appearance, and an 11-win regular season, the first in our program's history.
As we look forward to our New Mexico Bowl preparations, I have asked Associate Head Coach Drew Svoboda to lead the team during this time as our interim Head Coach. As the associate head coach of the 2025 Mean Green, no one knows our players, our system, and our culture better than Coach Svoboda. He has enthusiastically accepted this role and is already hard at work preparing our team.
The Mean Green have an opportunity to make more history on December 27 and we appreciate your relentless and unwavering support. Let's give this team everything we've got and send our seniors out as 12-game winners together.
