WACO, Texas — London Culbreath set a school record and claimed first place in the women's 5,000 meters to lead the UNT track and field teams at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas.
Culbreath's time of 16:51.69 toppled the previous record set by Susannah Lynch during the 2017 season and marked her second win as a member of the Mean Green. Capturing the seventh overall win of her career, Culbreath has won the 5,000 meters at the Michael Johnson Invitational each of the past three years, doing so representing TCU in her previous two victories.
Mackenzie Kuehl also made a move up the all-time performers list in the women's javelin. The junior is now the third-best performer in program history after taking second place at the meet with a career-long throw of 46.74 meters.
North Texas had several other top-10 finishers at a completive meet, including in the men's javelin where Vitus Hansgaard and Akeel Hanchard placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Trinity Trotter clocked a personal best in the 5,000 meters, breaking 18 minutes for the first time to give UNT a pair of top-10 finishers in the event. On the men's side, Nolan House placed seventh in the 5,000 meters, which tied the highest placement of his young career. Hunter Hendry also recorded a seventh-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Finally, Morgan Taylor collected her third top-10 placement of the season in the 110-meter hurdles, while Kendahl Tucker posted her best time of the outdoor season in the 400 meters to place 10th.
The Mean Green will continue the home stretch of the regular season at the John McDonnell Invitational Friday, April 25, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
