Soccer Announces 2025 Schedule

DENTON — The UNT soccer team has announced its 2025 schedule for what will be the program's 31st season.
The Mean Green will play a record 20 regular season matches this year and will face all 10 American Athletic Conference opponents. In its non-conference slate, North Texas will notably host SMU (Aug. 21) and travel to Oklahoma (Aug. 31).
They will play no exhibition matches this year and open the 2025 schedule on Aug. 14 with a home match against Incarnate Word. The Mean Green beat UIW last year in San Antonio, 2-0.
After the season opener UNT hosts Sam Houston on Aug. 17 before hosting SMU four days later. They will also host McNeese on Aug. 28 and play its final home non-conference match on Sept. 4 versus Abilene Christian.
The Mean Green will make an east coast non-conference trip when they travel to Army (Sept. 11) and face NJIT on the road two days later (Sept. 13).
UNT opens AAC play on Sept. 18 with a road match at UTSA. They host reigning AAC Tournament champion East Carolina on Sept. 28 and close out the regular season on Oct. 30 hosting UAB.
The 2025 AAC Tournament begins Nov. 3 and is played at a neutral site in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
North Texas head coach John Hedlund, who founded the program in 1995 and has been its only head coach, has never had a losing season in the 30 previous seasons. He is the only active head coach who has been tenured at one institution for 20+ years and never have a losing season. He enters the season with a 400-158-51 career record. His 400 wins rank 10th among active DI head coaches and 21st all-time.
Olympic Sport Passes for the 2025-26 season that include admission to UNT women's soccer, volleyball and softball are on sale now. Olympic Sport Passes are available in two levels at $75 (general admission) and $125 (includes reserved seating at soccer). Purchaser qualifies for one ticket to each regular season home event for women's soccer, volleyball and softball depending on availability.
