Legendary Musician Tom “Bones” Malone to perform with Green Brigade at DATCU Stadium
DENTON – As part of the full promotional lineup for the 2025 football season, UNT has unveiled "Rockin' at DATCU", set for Saturday, September 13 against Washington State, as a major showcase for Mean Green fans, with a bold goal of selling out DATCU Stadium for the first time in program history.
Headlining the night's musical entertainment is a special performance by UNT Alum and jazz music legend Tom "Bones" Malone.
A world-renowned trombonist, composer, and arranger—best known for his iconic roles with The Blues Brothers, the David Letterman Show, and dozens of major recordings—Malone will perform the National Anthem and join the Green Brigade for a one-of-a-kind halftime show collaboration. This is a rare opportunity to see a legendary artist perform live in a stadium setting.
The game will also spotlight UNT's celebrated College of Music with Mean Green Live performances across tailgate areas and fan zones. The partnership between UNT Athletics and the College of Music continues to grow, and this game is a showcase of that synergy, blending the energy of game day with Denton's signature sound.
The music focus does not stop there, however, as the game will also serve as the annual High School Band Day and Alumni Band Day.
In addition to the music, the contest against Wazzu will serve as the centerpiece of Family Weekend, when Mean Green families return to campus to celebrate with their students.
Prior to Saturday's game, UNT athletics will also host its second annual Green Lights Gala on Friday, September 12 at the Lovelace and McNatt Families Practice Facility from 6-9 p.m. Mean Green supporters, partners, and fans wishing to register and attend the gala can do so here.
Tickets for the game are moving fast, and fans are encouraged to lock in their seats now as UNT pushes toward a full DATCU Stadium.
Season tickets for the 2025 season remain on sale. Season ticket holders receive additional benefits including guaranteed seat locations when hosting The American Championship Game along with VIP presale opportunities for away games, bowl games and other events hosted at the stadium.
Patrons are encouraged to visit MeanGreenTickets.com for more information on any of the above options and to purchase tickets.
Fans can also call the UNT Athletics Ticket Office during normal business hours at 940-565-2527 or email ticketoffice@unt.edu.
