Morris family to match up to $50,000 in donations to Green Lights Fund for football program
UPDATE: On August 15, 2025, Mean Green Nation met the $50,000 challenge. In light of this, the Dan Smith Family has offered a new $25,000 match, dollar for dollar, to keep the challenge going.
Fans who make a $75+ donation will also be entered to win up to four sideline passes to a home game of their choice this fall.
In addition, if the total $75,000 threshold is reached, it will unlock another gift of $25,000 for a total of $175,000 to the Football Green Lights Fund.
DENTON, Texas – UNT Football Head Coach Eric Morris and his wife, Maggie, have introduced the "Morris Family Challenge" to support the North Texas football program through the Green Lights Fund, UNT's new revenue share initiative which directly supports UNT student-athletes through NIL and marketing opportunities.
Through this initiative, the Morris family has pledged to match every donation made to the program dollar-for-dollar through August 30, up to a total of $50,000.
"As we start our third year here, our family feels incredibly grateful for the way this university and the Denton community have welcomed us," said Eric Morris. "Throughout our time meeting with alumni, donors, and fans, we've seen just how much support there is for our football program.
"Now, it's our turn to give back to something we truly believe in," he continued. "That's why I'm asking for help from the Mean Green Family to support our efforts to keep key players and bring in new talent. To show how serious we are, my family will match every donation made through the end of August, up to $50,000. Every contribution counts, and we're thankful for your support!"
