UNT Athletics Announces Website for DATCU Stadium Parking/Traffic Updates

TxDOT I-35 and City of Denton Bonnie Brae Street project updates to affect gameday traffic/parking all season
DENTON – Due to the ongoing road construction adjacent to DATCU Stadium with the TxDOT Interstate 35 and City of Denton Bonnie Brae Street expansion projects, UNT athletics has created a webpage on MeanGreenSports.com that will be updated weekly to help fans navigate to DATCU Stadium for Mean Green football games.
Similar to other college and professional stadiums or arenas close to a major metropolitan area that experience major road construction adjacent to their venue, fans are encouraged to arrive to games early to ensure smooth entry into the stadium. Patrons can visit the website here throughout the season for updates regarding road closures and traffic changes.
The online page will have written directions and recommendations on how to navigate to each parking lot, as well as a link to the Google Maps directions directly to each lot. In addition, an updated map of the stadium parking lots will be present at the bottom of the site all season.
On gamedays this season, UNT has worked diligently with TxDOT and the City of Denton to ensure normal entrances to every parking lot will be open all season. Additionally, UNT and Mean Green Athletics have partnered with a third-party company to implement an enhanced Traffic Control Plan, optimizing both ingress and egress traffic flow to and from DATCU Stadium amid ongoing road construction near the stadium.
Due to the expansion of I-35, the northbound and southbound frontage roads of the highway are expected to be reduced to one lane in various locations between Bonnie Brae Street and North Texas Blvd. for the entirety of the season.
In addition, the construction on Bonnie Brae Street will create four lanes from Airport Road to the Athletic Center Drive, which will then turn into two lanes approaching Walt Parker Drive and the Blue Lot entrance.
With the increased traffic surrounding the I-35 frontage roads, the Uber/Lyft pickup/drop off point has been moved to the front of the University Gateway Center off North Texas Blvd.
Patrons can purchase passes here prior to arriving at DATCU Stadium for a discounted rate.
In addition, cash and credit card payments are accepted for the blue, orange, red and brown lots. Green, white, black and purple lot passes are pass only with no pre-sale or day-of-sale.
