Dejan "Milo" Milosevic was hired in January 2026 to return to the Mean Green as an assistant coach after previously serving as an assistant during the 2024 season.Â
In his year away from college soccer, Milosevic served as a director with Dallas Surf Soccer Club, where he supported organizational leadership, assisted with coaching operations, and maintained strong communication with players and families. He also served as the owner and operator of Nova Sports Arena in Mansfield, Texas.
Milosevic was with the Mean Green in 2024, when the team finished 7-7-6 and qualified for the American Conference tournament. Prior to that, he served as the men's head coach at Hill College in 2023. He has nearly two decades of coaching experience in both men's and women's soccer. He's coached at both the club and college levels. Additionally, he played collegiate and professional soccer and represented his home country of Serbia in international competitions.
"I'm excited to have Milo back on staff," said head coach John Hedlund. "He will be very instrumental in working with me on developing the field players throughout the season. Together, covering 25 field players, Milo will be a big asset to me, along with (assistant coach)Â Neal (Ozmun), focusing on the goalkeepers."
At Hill College in 2023, Milosevic turned the program around after a losing season and guided the Rebels to a region championship and just one win shy of a NJCAA DI National Tournament appearance. Eight different Rebels earned postseason accolades.
Prior to his time at Hill College, Milosevic served as the head women's soccer coach at NAIA LSU Shreveport in 2022 where he took over a program that had previously had a losing season and then led the Pilots to a .617 winning percentage. LSUS women's soccer student-athletes posted a 3.42 team grade point average that season.Â
Milosevic was the associate head men's soccer coach at his alma mater, Texas Wesleyan, from 2018-21, when he helped the Rams make a seven-win improvement.
Milosevic graduated from Texas Wesleyan and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and Master's in Education. As a student-athlete for the Rams he was a two-time All-Red River Athletic Conference honoree and was awarded the RRAC Defensive Player of the Year award as a junior. He led the Rams to their first NAIA National Tournament appearance and set the school's single season record for goals.Â
He has also worked with the Dallas Surf Soccer Club and has served as the executive director and director of coaching for adolescent club teams such as Sting Socccer Club, Fort Worth FC, the Dallas Texans Soccer Club and Texas Eagles.
Milosevic played professionally for the Dallas Sidekicks. Hedlund also played for the Sidekicks from 1987-1995 before being starting the UNT women's soccer program in the fall of 1995.
