HOUSTON — The UNT swimming and diving program wrapped up competition in a dual against Houston on Friday and Saturday, which was highlighted by junior diver Amelia Sharp earning her NCAA Zone Cut on the Platform.
Sharp had previously qualified for Zones in the 1-meter springboard and now will be competing in both events with an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She won the Platform with a new score of 238.20 – good for the third-best score in program history and just shy of her career best.
UNT had a pair of swimmers earn NIC B-Cuts, as well, as Vivian Anderson got hers in the 100 backstroke with a 54.78 and Jette Schindler in the 200 butterfly with a 2:04.00. She also got fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 400 IM. Anderson was also part of four relays — the 200 and 400 freestyle relays and the 200 and 400 medley relays. Scarlett McCloud had strong showings in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles and was on the two freestyle relays.
The Mean Green will return to competition at the Phil Hansel Invite back at Houston Nov. 17-20, while the divers will take part in the Texas Diving Invite in Austin, Nov. 12-14. Before that, UNT will host its alumni meet on Nov. 7 at 9 a.m.
