NEW YORK — North Texas senior running back Jahiem White was named on Monday to the Midseason Watch List for the 2026 Comeback Player of the Year Award by College Sports Communicators, in association with The Associated Press.
Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
White is currently the nation's leader in rushing yards (1,054 yards) after his 174-yard effort on Thursday night in a win over FAU, and he is averaging a nation's best 131.8 yards per game. He also leads the country in all-purpose yards per game (166.4). He is third in yards per carry (7.42) and fourth in total touchdowns (15).
The Mean Green will return to action on Saturday when they host Rice at DATCU Stadium at 3 p.m.
