Subsomboon Near Top Leaderboard At Chevron Collegiate

HUMBLE, Texas – UNT women's golf junior Bouquet Subsomboon is sitting in a tie for 11th place through two rounds at the Chevron Collegiate on Monday being played at the Golf Course of Houston.
Subsomboon is -2 through the first two rounds of the par 72 course. She is six shots off the leader, Kiara Romero of Oregon who is the No. 4 ranked player in the nation. Subsomboon is tied or ahead of six players ranked in the top 50 in the nation.
Subsomboon, who has already had three top 10 finishes this year alone, shot a 70 (-2) in the first round and followed that up with a 72 in the second round. She birdied six of the 36 holes on Monday, including three par 5s.
The junior is leading the charge for the Mean Green who are +26 headed into the final round of the Chevron Collegiate that features 10 teams ranked in the top 50 and three teams ranked in the top 11.
After a rough first round that saw her shoot an 80 (+8), Malisone Chanthapanya bounced back big time in the second round with a 71 (-1).
Competing as an individual, Mallorie Luitwieler had the second-best score by Mean Green players as she shot a +6 through two rounds.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
