Tennis Places Three on CSC Academic All-District Team

Chalard, Laydner and Schultz all earn honor for impressive GPAs and strong on-court play
DENTON, Texas – The UNT tennis team landed three players, Lou Chalard, Carolina Laydner and Lilly Schultz, on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams for outstanding work in the classroom and on the court, the CSC announced Tuesday.
It is the second consecutive year Chalard, Laydner and Schultz have all been honored by the CSC. As Academic All-District honorees these three all had above a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average while playing over 75 percent of UNT's team matches this season.
In addition, Laydner was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to a national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-American honorees will be announced June 2.
Chalard finished the year with an impressive 12-7 overall record and went 8-5 at line two on the year. She also teamed up with Schultz for 14 doubles victories. In the classroom, Chalard posted a 3.82 GPA in Business Administration in Marketing.
Laydner led the team with a 15-4 overall mark and went 11-3 at line one. Her .786 line one win single season percentage is the best in program history while her .789 overall single season win percentage ranks second all-time. She has a perfect 4.0 GPA while working towards a BA in Economics while double majoring in Political Science.
Schultz closed the season with three singles wins while also accounting for 14 doubles victories on the year, the most of any doubles duo since 2017. She also has posted a perfect 4.0 GPA while working toward her degree in business administration in management.
All three players are set to return to UNT for the 2026-27 season after helping the Mean Green win 17 matches this year, the most since 2013.
