Mean Green to host six home games at DATCU Stadium in fall 2026
DENTON, Texas – UNT football under first year head coach Neal Brown has announced game themes for the 2026 home football schedule.
The Mean Green will host six games at DATCU Stadium in the fall, opening the home season on Sept. 12 against UNLV while also hosting contests against Houston Christian, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Rice and UAB.
The home opener against UNLV will kickoff at 2:45 PM on Sept. 12 and will be "Denton Desert" themed. Popularized following a dominant 59-10 win over Washington State, UNT fans will be encouraged to wear "Desert Scrappy" t-shirts as the Mean Green roll out a new exclusive logo for 2026. For just $35, fans can purchase a ticket through the package and receive a green t-shirt with a logo of the "Desert Scrappy".
As previously announced, UNT will host Family Weekend in Denton for the Sept. 26 contest against Houston Christian. The contest against the Huskies will kick off at 6:30 PM and family-friendly activities will be available all around DATCU Stadium.
The contest against Charlotte on Oct. 10 will be "Jammin' at DATCU". To highlight the remarkable music scene in the Denton area, fans will be able to experience a gameday filled with music-related activities including a live concert and a halftime special performance by the famous UNT Green Brigade band.
The lone mid-week home game of the year occurs the week of Halloween on Thursday, Oct. 29 against Florida Atlantic at 6;30 PM. In conjunction with the City of Denton, the Halloween Capital of Texas, the Halloween festivities will carry over from the Denton Square to DATCU Stadium. Fans in attendance will be encouraged to wear black to the game.
Also previously announced, the annual homecoming contest will be on Nov. 7 against Rice. It will mark the 80th annual homecoming game at North Texas since its inception in 1946. The Mean Green have won seven of their last nine Homecoming matchups and hold a 53-25-1 all-time record in the game.
The final home game of the season will be Nov. 28 against UAB. UNT will honor its seniors on Senior Day prior to the contest and it will also be the Salute to Service game with recognitions and appreciations for military members, first responders and more.
Fans wishing to purchase tickets to any game on the 2026 schedule can do so in a variety of ways.
Season tickets are currently on sale for as low as $80 and are the best way to see all the action while also supporting the mission of UNT athletics. Fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets to help the department reach its goal of 10,000 season tickets sold which would shatter the previous program record.
Fans can also purchase single game tickets, mini plans or flex passes, allowing supporters to customize their game-day experience throughout the 2026 season.
In addition to season and single-game ticket options, group tickets are available for parties of 15 or more. Group outings provide an exciting opportunity for businesses, schools, community organizations, youth teams, and families to experience the energy and tradition of UNT Football together while creating lasting memories at DATCU Stadium.
