Women’s Basketball Receives 2026-27 American Conference Pairings

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced the league schedule pairings for the upcoming 2026-27 women's basketball season on Friday morning.
North Texas once again plays 18 contests throughout an American Conference schedule that is highlighted by home games against three of the top four finishers in the last season's standings. The Mean Green are 39-15 in league play under fourth-year head coach Jason Burton, good for the conference's most wins in that span.
UNT's nine-game home slate features matchups against Charlotte, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, UTSA and Rice, who went 17-1 during conference play last year to capture the regular season championship. The Super Pit also plays host to Florida Atlantic, South Florida and Wichita State, each of which won't face the Mean Green again in the regular season. Over the past three seasons, North Texas has won 22 of 27 home games against American opponents.
Road trips to East Carolina, Memphis and UAB mark the Mean Green's only pairings with those schools during the regular season. Additionally, they will make return visits to Charlotte, Rice, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and UTSA.
Since taking over as head coach, Burton has guided the UNT program to its most successful three-year stretch ever. The Mean Green are coming off their third consecutive season winning at least 19 games, a first in program history, and their 67 total victories in that time are the most of any three-year stretch throughout UNT's 50 seasons of competition.
Conference play begins Wednesday, December 30, 2026, and runs through Saturday, March 6, 2027. The complete American Conference schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
