Women’s Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule

DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball program released its non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season Friday, which features eight games at the Super Pit, three power-conference opponents and a home matchup against the Big 12's Baylor.
North Texas is slated to play away from home six times, including four true road opportunities, as well as a trio of games against Power Four teams who each won at least one NCAA Tournament game last March.
"One of our goals every year is to bring quality opponents to the Super Pit and the state of Texas to give our fans the opportunity to see high-level games in November and December," head coach Jason Burton said. "We did just that, highlighted by hosting Baylor on Dec. 2. We wanted to challenge ourselves in the non-conference slate to prepare us for conference play. Baylor in the Super Pit, at Oklahoma State and a game in San Antonio against Duke, who made an Elite 8 run last year, provide three potential NCAA Tournament returners that'll help with that challenge.
"We are also starting three road series that will provide quality NET Ranking opponents and return home games next year in San Diego State, Seattle and Northern Colorado, and a game in Frisco against Arkansas State, who won 27 games last season. While this is a challenging non-conference schedule, we are excited to have eight games in the Super Pit and two others throughout the state knowing we have a great fanbase that will help us protect home court."
The new campaign opens on Nov. 2 against Newman University, which is quickly followed by a road trip to San Diego State three days later. North Texas then battles Duke on Nov. 8 in The Foundry Classic, a marquee matchup hosted at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The Blue Devils are coming off a fantastic season in which they swept both ACC titles and reached the Elite 8.
UNT can get comfortable inside the Super Pit as six of its next seven games are to be played at home. That stretch begins with consecutive matchups against Houston Christian on Nov. 11, Incarnate Word on Nov. 14 and Saint Francis on Nov. 18. North Texas will then participate in the Hoopfest Basketball Women's Challenge on Nov. 22 when it takes on Arkansas State, who went 27-9 throughout the previous season. The event is hosted at Comerica Center in Frisco.
After home games against the University of Dallas (Nov. 24) and Wofford (Nov. 27), UNT hosts a Big 12 member for the second year in a row as Baylor comes to town on Dec. 2. North Texas has won five straight home games against the Bears, who haven't visited Denton since 1999.
Three of UNT's final four contests of the non-conference slate are true road games, including a return trip to Oklahoma State on Dec. 14. The Cowgirls played in the Super Pit last season and brought in the country's highest-ranked transfer portal class according to ESPN. That span also includes visits to Seattle on Dec. 5 and Northern Colorado on Dec. 22, as well as the home finale against Alcorn State on Dec. 18.
The Mean Green's American Conference schedule will be announced by the league at a later date.
