American Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Schedule

IRVING, Texas – The UNT women's basketball program completed its schedule for the 2026-27 season as the American Conference released the league slate on Wednesday morning.
North Texas opens its 18-game conference schedule with back-to-back games at the Super Pit, welcoming South Florida on Dec. 30 and Florida Atlantic on Jan. 3. It will not face either opponent again throughout the rest of the regular season.
UNT then ventures throughout the state of Texas for a challenging two-game road trip against the American's reigning tournament and regular season champions in UTSA (Jan. 6) and Rice (Jan. 9). The Mean Green will be looking to avenge last year's road losses to the Roadrunners and Owls, which were each decided by two points.
The lone meeting with Wichita State comes on Jan. 13 at the Super Pit and is followed by a quick visit to Temple three days later. Following a midweek break, UNT hosts matchups versus Tulane and Tulsa on Jan. 23 and 27, respectively.
January closes with a swing to the east, as North Texas travels to Memphis on Jan. 30 and UAB on Feb. 2. The Mean Green have won five straight games over UAB by an average margin of 19.4 points and are undefeated in five all-time matchups with the Tigers.
A two-game homestand against Charlotte (Feb. 10) and UTSA (Feb. 13) precedes a closing stretch in which UNT plays four of its final six regular season games on the road. That span includes return trips to Tulane (Feb. 17), Charlotte (Feb. 24) and Tulsa (March 6), as well as UNT's only meeting at ECU on Feb. 27. The Mean Green are set to host Temple on Feb. 21 before ending the home slate against Rice on March 3.
Hosted by South Florida, the American Conference Championship is scheduled for March 9-13 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Fla. Last March, UNT came within a victory of the tournament finals for the second consecutive season.
In all, North Texas will play 17 games inside the Super Pit throughout the 2026-27 season, including a marquee matchup against Baylor on Dec. 2. It also takes on Oklahoma State and Duke throughout non-conference play, giving UNT three opponents who won at least one NCAA Tournament game last year.
Now entering his fourth season at the helm, head coach Jason Burton has guided the UNT program to its most successful three-year stretch ever. The Mean Green are coming off their third straight campaign winning at least 19 games, a first in program history, and their 67 total wins in that time lead the American Conference.
