Named first team all-conference... Started every game, giving him 32 straight games as a starter and 35 of 36 games since coming to North Texas... Has earned all-conference honors every year with the Mean Green, including first team honors the last two seasons... Major part of the league-leading 234.7 rushing yards per game in Sun Belt games... Leader of offensive line that decreased its sacks allowed from 10 to two in conference games this season... Helped Kevin Galbreath become the first back in school history to rush for back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
2001
Zuniga started all 12 games, earning first team all-conference honors... One of only two underclassmen to be named to the Sun Belt’s offensive first team all-conference... A key part of an offensive line that helped North Texas rank third in the Sun Belt Conference in total rushing offense... Part of the offensive line that helped North Texas lead in time of possession for six consecutive games and aided running back Kevin Galbreath’s 1,000-yard rushing season.
2000
Nick was a second team all-Big West Conference pick as a true freshman. Zuniga stepped onto the field as a true freshman and started in his first ever college game (Baylor). He went on to start 10 of 11 games. He did not start the Kansas State game, but did come on to play the majority of the game.
High School/Personal
Nick was a first team all-district 5-5A pick at tackle for South Grand Prairie High School. He was a top 100 area recruit by The Dallas Morning News and a top 75 area recruit by the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. He helped the Warriors to a 13-2 record and a spot in the Class 5A Division II semifinals. South Grand Prairie averaged 391.6 yards and 38.7 points per game in total offense during the regular season. He was coached by David Thompson. Nick is the son of Mike and Joyce Zuniga and was born September 27, 1981 in Grand Prairie.
