Demarcus Ayers joined the UNT Football staff in January 2023. He serves as a quality control assistant on offense.
Prior to North Texas, Ayers was a graduate assistant at Indiana in 2022 and a quality control assistant at New Mexico during the 2021 campaign. He his coaching career as an assistant wide receivers coach at Lancaster High School from 2019-20.
A native of Lancaster, Texas, Ayers had a decorated career at Houston as a wide receiver from 2013-15. He was selected to the All-Decade team and was a three-time first team All-AAC honoree as a receiver and returner. He finished his career more than 3,700 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns.
Ayers was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016 and spent six years in professional football including time with the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears.
He completed his degree at Houston in 2022.
