Katelyn Smith was named Director of Recruiting for UNT Football in March 2026 and leads the program’s recruiting efforts, overseeing strategy, operations, and the overall student-athlete recruiting experience.

Smith brings a strong background in recruiting operations and communications. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, with a minor in Sports & Entertainment Management, from the University of South Carolina in 2021 before completing her master’s degree in Strategic Communication in 2022.

During her graduate studies, Smith joined South Carolina’s football program in 2022 as an On-Campus Recruiting and Operations Coordinator. Over four seasons, she played an integral role in organizing official and unofficial visits, managing recruiting logistics, and supporting the program’s day-to-day operations.

A native of South Carolina, Smith was raised around the game as the daughter of a high school football coach.
