McCurdy was brought on board by head coach Michael Akers in August 2020 after a professional career that saw her record four top-10 finishes on the Symetra Tour - two in each of the 2018 and 2019 seasons. She had a career-best T6 finish twice - once in each of those years on Tour. In 2019, she finished T6 at the Symetra Tour Championship. In 40 events played over the two seasons, she made the cut 25 times.
McCurdy, who hails from Kyle, just outside of Austin, played collegiately at SMU and graduated in 2017. As a senior, McCurdy’s scoring average of 72.18 was the best in a single-season in SMU program history, and she left SMU with the fourth-lowest career average in school history (74.90). She also carded 103 birdies, which was the second-most in a season in program history. In the summer of 2016, McCurdy competed in the U.S. Women’s Amateur and carded a round of 64.
She had a stellar junior season for the Mustangs, when she won the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational and collected 80 birdies on the year, which was good for the fifth-most in a season by an SMU player. Her scoring average that year of 74.43 was the sixth-lowest in program history.Â
