Jared Mosley was named Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University of North Texas on December 10, 2022. In his role, he leads UNT Athletics and its more than 300 student-athletes.
In 2025-26, North Texas continued its strong trajectory under Mosley with the second-best win percentage in the American Conference across all team sports. The Mean Green won a pair of conference titles in women's indoor track and field as well as diving in 2025-26 while also setting a school record with 12 wins on the football field.
In the 2025 football season, the Mean Green earned a spot in the American Conference title game for the first time in program history and won the Isleta New Mexico Bowl, the program's first bowl win since the 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl. In addition, UNT sold out DATCU Stadium for the first time in its contest against South Florida and set a school record with an average home attendance of 24,493.
In the classroom, North Texas had the highest spring semester GPA in history of 3.48. The Mean Green had success across the board with every team on campus earning above a 3.20 semester GPA and a cumulative GPA over a 3.0. It was just the second time in program history UNT met those marks across the board as a department. In addition, 10 teams posted both semester and cumulative GPAs over a 3.4.
Mosley was also instrumental in finishing fundraising for Phase One of the expansion of the UNT Athletic Center, including securing the largest gift in program history of over $4 million from Tom and Kristy Weger for the Weger Family Strength and Conditioning Center which broke ground in May of 2026.
UNT also renamed its soccer and track and field stadium to Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium under his direction in March of 2026.
As evidence of his strong performance leading the Mean Green, Mosley was named as one of the Top ADs in America by Silver Waves Media in June of 2026.
In the 2024-25 academic year, the Mean Green completed their second season in the American Conference, finishing with the league's second-best overall winning percentage and the second-best two-year win percentage since joining The American in 2023. UNT teams combined for 130 victories, the second most in school history and the highest total since 2019.
Additionally, membership in the Mean Green Scholarship Fund grew to a record 2,404 donors as of June 2025, a 105% increase year over year.
Mean Green student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom, posting their 12th consecutive semester with a department-wide GPA above 3.0. Over 73% of student-athletes recorded a GPA of 3.0 or better, and the department achieved a record 3.284 GPA during the Spring 2024 semester.
During the 2023-24 season, UNT enjoyed a strong debut in The American, with six programs reaching postseason competition. Women’s basketball captured the Mean Green’s first American championship, while the athletic department posted a combined winning record for a program-best seventh consecutive year.
In Mosley’s first year leading the department, UNT celebrated several significant achievements. The women’s golf program claimed its third consecutive Conference USA championship, the track and field program qualified three athletes for the NCAA Championships, marking the program’s most qualifiers in 30 years, and the men’s basketball program captured its first-ever National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship.
In 2023, Mosley led negotiations for a new 15-year naming rights agreement for DATCU Stadium and guided the department through its transition into the American Conference.
A native of Lockney, Texas, Mosley is the 15th Director of Athletics in UNT history. Before his appointment, he served as UNT’s Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for more than six years (2016–2022), managing financial, operational, and administrative responsibilities while providing oversight for human resources, facilities and event management, student services, marketing, promotions, and strategic communications. He also served as sport administrator for both men’s and women’s basketball, assisted with football operations, and coordinated football scheduling. During his tenure, seven UNT programs combined to win 17 conference or division championships, with the department achieving its highest overall winning percentage in the modern era.
Before joining North Texas, Mosley served as CEO and President of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame from 2014 to 2016. He previously spent more than a decade at Abilene Christian University, including 10 years as Director of Athletics from 2004 to 2014, where he oversaw more than $30 million in facility construction and renovations and led the university’s transition to NCAA Division I. Under his leadership, athletics fundraising increased by over 650 percent, surpassing $1.7 million in his final year, and he secured the lead gift for ACU’s on-campus football stadium.
Mosley, who has more than 20 years of experience in athletics administration, began his career at ACU as Associate Athletic Director from 2001 to 2003. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in 2000 and master’s degree in education administration in 2003 from Abilene Christian. A former standout on the basketball court, Mosley was inducted into the ACU Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 after finishing his playing career as the 11th-leading scorer and eighth-leading rebounder in program history.
