Volleyball Defeats Texas State in Four Sets

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The UNT volleyball team ended its weekend at the Texas Challenge with a four-set (25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 25-19) victory over Texas State on Saturday afternoon.
After dropping Thursday's tournament opener, North Texas has now won back-to-back matches to improve to 5-3 on the season.
"I love the intensity and fight we showed after Thursday's loss," head coach Dave Fleming said. "Our team responded great."
The Mean Green once again found their groove offensively, compiling 61 kills on a season-high .323 hitting percentage. UNT only produced a more efficient offense three times last season and hadn't reached that mark since Sept. 19 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Outside hitter Reagan Bedell led all players with 17 kills on just 32 attempts, good for her highest total in a match since facing Stetson on Sept. 6, 2025 (26). She also added two aces, seven digs and a pair of blocks.
North Texas received consistent production from fellow outside hitters Jocelyn Jourdan and Jahniya Jackson, who added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. At the setter position, Sidney Soria and Olivia Branum continued to be crucial pieces of the offensive attack with a combined 51 assists.
"I think we let them back in it a little bit in the third set," Jourdan said. "We dug deep, found ourselves in the fourth and killed it."
The Mean Green now return home to host the UNT Invitational, which begins Thursday at 7 p.m. against Tarleton State. They are then scheduled to face West Virginia on Friday night before closing the weekend against East Texas A&M the following day.
