Michaela Kelsey was hired at UNT during the summer of 2023. She serves as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Mean Green soccer and softball programs.

Kelsey joined North Texas after two seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach at NCAA DII Cal State East Bay. While at CSUEB, the California native established a program for all 15 of the Pioneers’ athletic programs, many of which excelled on the field and reached NCAA Tournaments and multiple student-athletes earned all-American status.

Prior to East Bay, Kelsey spent one year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Dakota State University. She designed and managed the 2020 Internship program and curriculum at DSU while implementing a nutrition program that included monthly seminars for all athletes, monthly informative flyers and weekly social media recipes. She also developed annual programs for softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's track and cross country while assisting football with lifts and conditioning sessions.

Before becoming an assistant coach with the Trojans, Kelsey spent a little over three years working at her alma mater UNLV as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. She worked with track, cross country, women's tennis, men and women's swim and dive, men and women's basketball, volleyball and softball.

During this time, she also served as an assistant coach for the UNLV's women's soccer program from 2018-19, while performing as strength and conditioning coach at Zumanity Cirque du Soleil, Las Vegas.

While in college, Kelsey was a student-athlete for the UNLV women’s soccer program from 2013-17 as a defender. She made 35 career starts for the Rebels, including in 2015 against North Texas — the Mean Green won 1-0. She helped lead UNLV in 2016 to a Mountain West Conference championship.

Kelsey earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a minor in business management from UNLV, where she was a member of the Dean's Honor List every semester. She completed her master's degree in exercise physiology at UNLV.
