Jordan Qualifies for NCAA Regional In Triple Jump

HOUSTON (4/26/03) - Sophomore Tiffanie Jordan qualified for the NCAA regional in the triple jump at 40-1.50 at the Rice University Twilight. Jordan's jump won the event and is the third best in North Texas school history. North Texas also had an NCAA regional qualifying mark from the 4x400 relay team as they had a time of 3:43.71 which is the third fastest in school history.
The NCAA qualifying marks capped off a dominating performance for the Lady Eagles has they won four individual events and captured both relay events. Senior sprinter Ananka Clark won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.83 while Rhatisha Scott won the 100 meter hurdles at 14.52. Stephanie Allen won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.97, less than half a second off the NCAA regional qualifying time.
Sprinter Cherri Rowe is closing in on the NCAA regional qualifying time in the 400 meter dash as she finished in second at 55.80.
On the men's side freshman Jay Vanderford continues to shine as he was only .03 seconds off a regional qualifying mark in the 400 meter hurdles as he finished in second place with a time of 52.73. Ryan Lancon continued his stellar season in the pole vault by clearing a height of 16-00.75 to place second.
The Mean Green will have their final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship May 3 at the UTA Open.
