Kauffman Shines At First Day Of Texas Relays

AUSTIN (3/31/04)- Junior distance runner Justin Kauffman had a stellar start at the Texas Relays as he ran a personal best time of 3:55.05 in the 1,500 meters. Kauffman finished in fourth place overall in the event.
North Texas also had a strong performance from senior distance runner Matt Gieringer who ran a time of 32:19.82 in the 10,000-meters.
On the women's side Deidra Wesley had 754 points after the first day of competition in the heptathlon. The Mean Green will compete in the Texas Relays through Saturday with the preliminary events starting on Friday and the finals on Saturday.
North Texas will also compete at the Tarleton State Collegiate Meet in Stephenville on April 1.
