Track's Williams Headed To National Championships

Williams is the first male Mean Green hurdler to qualify for the national meet and the first male overall since Detrion Woodson advanced to the 100-meter dash national semi-finals in 2001.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay team nearly missed an automatic bid to the national meet, but missed the cut by one spot. The team of Brandon Woodard, David Schwein, Derek Logan and Kelvin Wright finished fourth with a time of 3:08.21.
The top three teams automatically advanced to nationals, but the Mean Green are still in contention for an at-large bid to be determined after all the regionals are completed.
The women’s 4x400-meter relay team missed qualifying despite setting a new school record. The team of Chastidy Russell, Chi Chi Echebelem, Chrystal Mitchell and Rhonda Williams shattered the record with a time of 3:41.42, and finished in 10th place.
Bonnie McKernan rounded out the season with a 13th place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the regional meet. The sophomore finished with a time of 11:28.23.
Ciji Brooks finished 17th in the shot put with a distance of 43-05.00 (13.23).
