Denton (06/08/05) - Despite scorching his way to a Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Track and Field National Championships, hurdler Kory Williams still has unfinished business, a hundredth of a second's worth to be exact.

"I am so pleased, and as a matter of fact, I am still shocked," said Williams about being the first
Williams has recorded three of the top four times in school history this season, but the record has been just out of his grasp. His best race, a 50.99 run at the SBC finals, is a fraction of a second off Ed Eberhart's 1975 record of 50.98.
"He knew this was his last shot and he was determined all year," said Watkins. "I think it was sheer determination. You could just tell he was serious about everything he did this year."
Williams will be running in the second heat of the 400-hurdles preliminaries on Thursday. The top two runners in each of the five prelims, along with the next six best times, will make Friday's semifinals.
Focused on his goals and determined to accomplish them, Williams is confident in his chances in
"I know I am going to make it to the finals, and I am going in confident because I have worked really hard for this."
