FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (3/10/06) - North Texas freshman Brandi Stanfield had a jump of 42-2.75 in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championship and finished in 11th place.
Stanfield, the only freshman in the nation to compete in the triple jump at the NCAA Championship, was tied for fourth in her flight but did not advance to the finals.
"She didn't have a great first attempt but she did well in her second try. She fouled in the last attempt and was right on the verge of making the finals but just didn't get it," said North Texas head coach Rick Watkins. "She's had a great season none the less and I'm really excited about what the future holds for her here at North Texas".
Stanfield's indoor season concludes but she set the new school record along with a new Sun Belt Conference record in her freshman season.
