Track's Wesley Does It Again At The Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas (6/05/06) At what has become an annual even for the North Texas senior, Deidra Wesley smashed her own school high jump record and is on pace do the same in heptathlon after day one at the 2006 Texas Relays in Austin.
Wesley, who has accumulated 3,138 points through four heptathlon events, broke the high jump record she set on the first day of competition at the 2005 Texas Relays. The
Tomorrow, Wesley will have the long jump, javelin and the 800-meter run on her plate as she tries to reach the heptathlon’s national provisional qualifying mark of 5,000 points.

Wesley wasn’t the only Mean Green athlete to compete well at the Mike A. Myers Track Stadium on Wednesday. Cassie Storms notched a fifth place finish in the 10,000-meter run. The senior finished fifth with a time of 39:07.67, the fourth fastest time in school history.
Billy Giano also earned a top-ten finish at one of the nation’s premier meets. The freshman finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:02.76.
