Track's Wesley Sidelined At Texas Relays

The senior injured her elbow attempting a javelin throw, the fifth of seven heptathlon events, and was forced to withdraw. Wesley, who earned 3,138 points after four events on Wednesday, was on pace to shatter her own school record of 5,030 points set at last year’s Texas Relays.
Wesley is unlikely to return to competition at the Texas Relays, but will have another chance this season to reach the 5,000 point provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA National Championships.

Stanfield had a stellar indoor campaign, earning Sun Belt Conference Women’s Field Performer of the Year as well as Freshman of the Year honors. The triple jumper recorded a leap of 43-feet-5-1/4-inches, the ninth best in the nation in 2006.
