SACRAMENTO, Calif. (6/09/06) Mean Green all-American Brandi Stanfield’s stellar freshman campaign came to an end after only one successful jump at the NCAA National Track & Field Championships on Friday.
Nursing a painful foot injury, the triple jumper fouled on her first two tries, but managed a leap of 39-feet-11-1/2-inches on her third attempt. Over four feet short of her season best, Stanfield took 28th place and failed to advance to the finals.

Stanfield’s resume already includes the top three marks in school history, as well as the Sun Belt indoor triple jump title. She was named the conference’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year as well as the Freshman of the Year in both seasons.
She earned indoor all-America honors after an 11th place finish at the national championships in March.
