Arlington, Texas (March 30, 2007) The Mean Green track and field team competed in a tough meet at UT-Arlington on Saturday, by coming away with its first regional qualifier of the season along with two silver medals. The Mean Green also had a pair of distance performers try their hand in
Senior Heath Smith once again qualified for the regional meet in the javelin throw, going over the qualifying mark of 61.60 meters with his throw of 62.68 meters in his first outdoor competition of the season. With his effort, he also eclipsed his own school record in the event and finished third in the process.
Sophomore Toby Edwards opened up his outdoor season in
Ryan Hill also continued the steady play of the Mean Green high jumpers by tying for third with her fly of 5-07.
Josh Rogers also finished in a personal best of 14:38.25 in the 5000 meters in a 12th place finish at the Stanford Invitational in
Other solid performances include the women’s 4x100 meter relay team that claimed second place in a time of 45.67.
