Juan Munoz, get ready to hear that name a lot. A while back, when Brad Stracke had first started at North Texas (wasn't really that long ago, less than 3 years) I asked him about his roster and how he's going to fill it out.
He went right to the point.
"I'm not signing trash." Well said.
And guess what, he's not. Munoz is another gem added to a stock roster of North Texas golf.
The Munoz saga on how Stracke eventually reeled him in was rather interested. He just about had him signed, sealed and delivered and then a school out in west Texas, let's call them a technical school, came in at the last minute and tried to scoop him away.
Too late, that's not happening around here anymore. Stracke kept on Munoz and the No. 1 ranked golfer in Colombia will be playing golf at North Texas starting next fall.
The lineup that Stracke has muscled up can compete with anybody in the nation. Make that any nation when you think about it.
The Mean Green has the U.S., Mexico, South Africa, and now Central America covered when you look at the recruits that have been added to the roster in the last three years.
Carlos Ortiz and Rodolfo Cazuabon, two of Mexico's finest. Curtis Donahoe, Josh Jones and Ty Spinella, all home grown American products.
Marco Scarola, a hidden jewel found in the South African badlands. Now you import Munoz from Colombia and this lineup will be a who's who of the United Nation's, but this one will get results and actually do something.
Stracke was right, no garbage here, no recycling either. It's top shelf talent for North Texas golf.
