Odufuwa Ties Career High With 20 Points

DENTON, Texas (12/19/10) - George Odufuwa tied a career high with 20 points to lead the North Texas men's basketball team to an 85-62 victory against Texas State on Sunday night at the Super Pit.
The Mean Green improves its record to 9-2 and extends its series lead against the Bobcats, 59-28. North Texas has won 12 straight games at home, tying for the four-longest streak in school history.
The Mean Green shot 53.6 percent in the game, its second-best shooting game of the season. NT held the Bobcats to 32.8 percent shooting, the lowest opponent field goal percentage of the season.
Odufuwa tied a personal best set last year with 20 points. He set a career high with nine field goals and dished out five assists, tying a personal best. He pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.
Josh White joined him in double figures with 18 points. He was 5-of-11 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
The Mean Green made its first three baskets of the game, jumping out to a 9-0 lead. Dominique Johnson came off the bench to hit the Mean Green's first three-pointer of the game to extend the lead to 16-6. North Texas led by as many as 18 points, 32-14, before entering half with a 40-25 advantage.
North Texas shot 50 percent in the first half, compared to Texas State's 25 percent shooting from the field.
After leading the team with 11 points at the half, Odufuwa scored nine of the Mean Green's first 15 points to start the second stanza. An Odufuwa layup put the Mean Green up by 16, 53-37 at 15:28.
Off an assist from Odufuwa, Alonzo Edwards dunked the ball for a score to keep the Mean Green in double-figures, 65-47, at 8:25. A second dunk by Edwards increased the lead to 21 points, 72-51, at 6:12.
Sophomore Ben Knox made the first start of his career, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the field to score six points.
North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 22 when it faces LSU on the road at 7 p.m.
