After starting the day with a win in the 110-hurdles, Wehr finished out his season best decathlon with 6,825 points, besting his previous mark of 6,664 points at the Texas Relays.
Teammate Josh Papagno joined Wehr in the scoring for the decathlon when he finished in fifth place, two points back of fourth, with 6,177 points.
Ashley Austin also captured a first place finish for the Mean Green in the women's open long jump. The senior leaped a career long distance of 6.28 meters, putting her in third on the all-time list.
The preliminaries for the running event were all North Texas on the women's side. Both the 100 and 200-meter dash will have four Mean Green athletes in the eight-person finals.
In the 100-meter dash Missy Barnes (11.80), Brittany Blaylock (11.81) and Brittani Simmons (12.04) sit as the top three qualifiers with Alysha Adams (11.86) in fifth.
The same four girls also qualified for the finals of the 200-meter dash in a different order. Blaylock (24.00) occupies the top spot there with Adams (24.02) right on her heels in second. Simmons (24.54) holds down the fourth slot and Barnes (24.45) rounds out the North Texas qualifiers in sixth.
Ciara Smith finds herself in a familiar position as well. The senior, who came in second in the Sun Belt Conference in the 400-meter dash, posted the second fastest time in the preliminaries only .28 off the top qualifier.
After qualifying in both the 100 and 200-meter dash finals, Adams added a second best time in the prelims of the 100 hurdles, finishing in 13.77 seconds.
The final day of the Sun Belt Championships starts tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at Fouts Field.
