Get your calendars out everyone; mark the date August 7 as the day the dog days of summer are officially over. Why? That's the first day of two-a-day practices for the North Texas football team.
It's a Saturday and at 8:30 a.m. the first official practice begins. The schedule, more than likely to be tweaked and changed between now and then, has two scrimmages on it as well. The first one is on August 14 and the second seven days later on August 21.
The freshman report on August 5 and the veterans a day later.
The first real day of practice (full pads) is August 12, until then it will be nothing more than helmets and shells.
I'm not gonna give out times right now because I promise they will change, but I will tell you if you like practices in the morning and evenings, then you will love this edition of the fall camp.
Also of note we are going to be hitting the social media side of things pretty hard. Eventually we will have facebook and twitter sites for every sport. In that regard we will also have a Green Gang twitter and facebook page which will feature more than just blog postings, we are talking real-time updates from practices, games, and breaking news.
There will eventually be a page on MeanGreenSports.com that will have each sport and the links, but for now you can find them here and expect to see a lot more activity in the coming weeks.
