Is it just me, or are the Olympic sports showing everyone how to start off the season on the right foot?
Women's golf goes out last week and shatters a ton of records on its way to a tournament title the first week of the year.
Then this weekend, the tennis team roars out to an outstanding start, collecting a 27-6 overall record and five of the six possible titles at the Mean Green Invitational.
They went 9-0 in doubles play and then a staggering 18-6 in singles play, with one loss coming at the hands of a teammate and another after a withdraw due to illness.
Knowing all of that going into Monday afternoon, golf goes out and lights up the UTA Invitational with a score of 276.
For those of you that don't know much about golf, that is 12 strokes under par. The champion of this event last year (Rice), shot eight under par for the whole tournament.
Now we throw in volleyball, which has its best non-conference start sense 2006 when they won the Sun Belt West division.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say keep up the good work coach Lama, Mitchell, Murczek and Stracke. We're glad to see a great start to what promises to be a great season for all of you.
