BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Mean Green women's cross country finished in second place at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, its highest finish since 2003.

"The women ran lights out today," said cross country coach Sam Burroughs. "Ingrid & Sara improved upon their finishes from last year and were name all-conference again, and Hanna Rice, Ellie Arends, Blake Geary, Leesa Morales and Lauren Sullivan poured it on. Top to bottom it was a great day."
All five members of the Mean Green that scored finished above 26th as the women recorded a total score of 74 points, its lowest total since 1989 as a member of the Southland Conference (48).
Burroughs was named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Coach of the Year for his team's performance.
"I was shocked to get women's coach of the year," Burrough added. "I was already packing up to leave the site when they announced my name and graciously went to receive the award. This was truly a testament to what these ladies did today."
The Mean Green men fell a spot this season to seventh overall with a total score of 169.
Senior Michael Sandoval was the first North Texas guy across the line in 24th place, followed closely by Matt Russ.
