NORMAN, Okla. - Mean Green track & field claimed eight top-three finishes at the Sooner Invitational Saturday, its final tune-up before the Sun Belt Indoor Championships.
Both Alysha Adams and Jermaine Jamison took first place in their respective events while Jordan Wehr captured second in the pole vault.
Adams, who held the second fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference in the 60-meter hurdles coming in, crossed the line in 8.34 in the preliminaries and bettered that in the finals with an 8.33 second race.
Jamison nabbed first place in the high jump when he cleared the bar at 2.05 meters. The women's side of the high jump saw a member of North Texas grab third place honors in a jump-off.
Sophomore Haley Thompson beat out Angelo State's Kati Holly in the jump-off for third place after both cleared the bar at 1.66 meters.
Wehr, who currently tops the SBC performance list for the heptathlon, was able to pole vault over 4.75 meters for second place before taking fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.37 seconds.
Senior Reggie Hayter was another member of the North Texas team to finish in the top-three as he clocked in at 1:13.16 seconds in the 600-meter run, which was good enough for third. Fellow teammate Montrell Pyron finished right behind him in fourth.
Leading the way for the Mean Green freshman was Terrance Williams. He took third in both the long jump and triple jump Saturday.
North Texas will now head to the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships, which are being hosted by Arkansas State and will take place Sunday Feb. 27 and Monday Feb 28.
