NT Duo Finishes Second and Third at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - North Texas track & field wrapped up the first two days of the Texas relays on Thursday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
Senior Patrick Strong and sophomore Matt Russ finished second and third in a Sun Belt Conference sweep of the men's 5000-meter run.
Strong's time of 14:52.44 is good enough for fourth in the conference so far this season while Russ' 14:53.36 is now fifth.
ULM's Daniel Mutai captured first, just .19 seconds ahead of Strong.
Sara Dietz was another member of the Mean Green to finish in the top-three, when she crossed the line of the 1500-meter run in third place with a time of 4:41.46.
Thursday saw sophomore hurdler Steven White fall one spot short of qualifying for the 400-meter hurdle finals. White finished in 10th place, with a season fast time of 52.12 seconds.
North Texas will continue the Texas Relays on Friday morning.
