No. 37- Career Touchdowns Scored By Lance Dunbar (entering 2011)
At a school that has earned its reputation producing running backs and winning national rushing titles, senior tailback Lance Dunbar has already moved his name alongside the all-time greats, and still has one season to boost his numbers at North Texas.
Dunbar ranks second at North Texas with 37 career touchdowns, and is just one score away from tying Patrick Cobbs for first place at North Texas. Dunbar is poised to make a run at the North Texas career records for all-purpose yards, 100-yard rushing games, rushing yards, points scored, and rushing touchdowns, all of which should be his with a healthy season.
Lance was a 2010 First Team Sun Belt selection, as he single-handedly kept North Texas in several games. Dunbar led the Sun Belt, set a North Texas single season record, and ranked fourth among running backs in the nation (per game) with 1,885 all-purpose yards.
Perhaps most impressively, Dunbar ran for 270 yards, the second-most in a single game in North Texas history, against Kansas State, nearly engineering an upset of the Wildcats. Dunbar scored 4 touchdowns against Kansas State, as their Big 12 defense struggled to stop him.
Dunbar, who is on the Doak Walker Watch List for the nation's top running back, will have a much higher number than '37' by this time next year, given good health, and will certainly electrify crowds at Mean Green Stadium, starting 37 days from now…
