T&F Wraps Up Competition At Bobcat Invite

SAN MARCOS, Texas (3/29/13) - North Texas track & field wrapped up competition at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday evening bringing home 15 top-five finishes.

Haley Thompson captured the lone top finish on the women's side. Thompson won the women's high jump with a leap of 1.66 meters.

Mona Landry finished third in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.76 meters. The Mean Green women captured two top-five spots in the pole vault with Madison Northcutt (3.50m) in fourth and Sarah Vann (3.50m) in fifth.

Christina Taylor grabbed a fourth-place finish in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:16.62 while Deja McKnight threw 14.02 meters to finish fourth in the women's shot put.

On the men's side, Austin Yaeger and Derek Richard took home first in their respective events.

Yaeger won the men's 1500-meter run in 3:56.92 followed by Alex Hita at third in 3:57.84. Bryce McAndrew nabbed a second-place finish in the men's 800-meter run in 1:53.65.

Richard captured his second first-place finish in the pole vault this season with a vault of 4.45 meters. Sprinter Kedron Sowells placed fourth in the men's 100 meters in 10.80.

Aaron Sirles grabbed two top-five finishes in his events this weekend. Sirles threw 16.84 meters to finish second in the shot put. Sirles threw 52.58 meters to finish fourth in the discus throw.
