North Texas Has Three Advance At NCAA Prelims

AUSTIN, Texas (5/23/13) - Three Mean Green track & field athletes will be advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds after competition on Day One.
Steven White won his heat in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.16 to automatically qualify for the quarterfinals. White needs to finish in the top-three to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Jo Adams grabbed a fifth-place finish in the women's 1,500-meter run to advance to the quarterfinal heats. Adams ran a time of 4:19.44 to finish second in her heat. Adams will need to finish in the top-five in one-of-two heats to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Clint Collins crossed the line fourth in his heat of the men's 400-meter dash to advance to one-of-three quarterfinal heats. Collins needs to finish in the top-three to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Ashley Harrison ran a 54.56 400-meter dash but finished fifth in her heat missing the cutoff to advance to the quarterfinal heats. Harrison finishes her career as the women's 400-meter dash Sun Belt Conference Champion and a SBC All-Conference First Team member.
Aaron Sirles threw a personal best 172-09 feet in the men's discus throw to finish 29th. Sirles wrapped up his career at North Texas with a career best 52.87 meters in the hammer throw and 16.90 meters in the shot put.
Matt Russ ran a 3:57.11 to place 40th in the men's 1,500-meter run. Russ completes his junior year with career bests of 1:52.56 in the 800 meters and 3:46.55 in the 1,500 meters.
Day two of competition at the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Round for the Mean Green kicks off with Chastity Stewart in the women's 100-meter hurdles at 5 p.m.
