North Texas cross-country standout Troy Taylor placed 145th at NCAA Cross Country Nationals on Saturday afternoon.
Out of 246 of the nation's best runners, Taylor finished 145th in the 10K race, with a time of 31:54.2.
"I think this was a really good experience for Troy to go out there and have a solid showing," said head cross-country coach Stefanie Slekis. "Obviously, he had higher goals, but it's still a really big race, and you don't know what it will be like to run in that meet until you do it."
Out of all the South Central Region's qualifiers, Troy finished fourth, moving up four places from his performance at regionals just last week.
"It's hard to be surrounded by that many people who all want the same thing, he's never been in that deep of a race before," said Slekis.
This marks the end of the 2014-15 cross-country season. Taylor and the rest of the North Texas track and field team will begin track season in January.
"For him to come out here and have a solid showing, we have to be happy with that," said Slekis.
