Mean Green Cross-Country Recognized For Academic Success

DENTON - The North Texas men's and women's cross-country teams were both recognized Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their academic success.
The Mean Green men and women received USTFCCCA All-Academic team honors for posting cumulative grade-point averages above 3.0. The men's team posted a GPA of 3.28, and the women followed at 3.22.
Individually, Silvester Harrison and Charlotte Wilson were named USTFCCCAA All-Academic honorees. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and have finished in the top 15 finishers (or 10 percent) at regionals.
Harrison graduated in 2.5 years with a degree in biochemistry. The junior was named all-region after finishing 25th at the NCAA Division I South Central Regionals. He also placed 15th at the Conference USA Championships, helping his team to a first-place finish.
Wilson is working on her master's degree in Recreation & Sport Management. She was also named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team and placed 13th at regionals, which was the highest finish for a female North Texas runner in the last 10 years. Wilson was named Conference USA Outstanding Senior and first-team all-conference for her fourth-place finish at the conference championship. She led the Mean Green to a third-place team finish.
The Mean Green were among 226 women's programs and 179 men's programs that earned all-academic team honors. Harrison and Wilson were among 53 women and 91 men in Division I who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
