DENTON - North Texas athletics has announced the first ever The Scrappys to honor the best team and individual Mean Green performances of the year, and fans can participate in the voting for the 2016-17 award recipients.

Awards for athletic and academic achievement as well as community service will be presented at a banquet.

Four of the awards are open to fan voting. Student-athletes and fans are encouraged to vote for their favorites in the following categories:

Outstanding Team Performance
Outstanding Individual Performance
Male Newcomer of the Year
Female Newcomer of the Year
