DENTON - North Texas athletics has entered into a partnership with Affinity Licensing to manage its trademark and licensing program, Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced Wednesday.
The deal is intended to maximize exposure opportunities for the Mean Green with aggressive brand development strategies to increase retail merchandising.
"We believe Affinity is the perfect partner to take us to the next level of brand exposure and provide a wider variety of merchandise for our fans," Baker said. "This collaboration will increase both the availability through various retail outlets and the diversity of the products that Mean Green fans have been desiring for a long time."
As part of the agreement, Affinity will act as the exclusive licensing agency to manage the university's consumer products licensing relationships with manufacturers and retailers. The university will have access to innovative technology and processes that allow for better brand protection, as well as leverage Affinity's retail and merchandising expertise to expand product categories, launch new products and grow retail distribution.
"We are beyond thrilled and honored to partner with the University of North Texas," said Wil Spires, partner of Affinity Licensing. "UNT is building a championship culture both academically and athletically, so it's a special time to be part of the Mean Green family. We look forward to leveraging our long history of working in the metroplex region, throughout the state of Texas, and nationally to expand their brand and merchandise offering."
